German metallic element band Die Apokalyptischen Reiter (roughly, "Horsemen of the Apocalypse") formed in mid-1995. Comprising frontman Fuchs, guitarist Pitrone, bassist Volk-Man, keyboardist Dr. Pest, and drummer Sir G., the group recorded its first base demonstration tape, Firestorm, the next yr, resulting in a deal with the Hammerheart pronounce to spillage an expanded edition highborn Soft and Stronger. In the inflame of 1999's Allegro Barbaro, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter shifted aside from the melodic death alloy of old efforts to the more than epical and atmospherical approach number one introduced via 2000's All You Need Is Love. The 2003 Nuclear Blast pronounce debut, Get a Nice Trip, further refined the rule, boosting Fuchs' vocals in the amalgamate and accenting more integrated melodies and rhythms. After climb their first base headlining tour, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter traveled to Denmark to record the 2004 LP Samurai. Another potent commercial display, it sic the stage for 2006's Riders on the Storm, which debuted in the German Top 40.

The concert name refers to Nelson Mandela's prison number (46664 -
pronounced four, double six, six, four) when he spent 18 years of his 27
years in prison on Robben Island off the coast of Cape Town in South
Africa.

birthday year to raise funds to continue our work and so of course I want
to help them," said Nelson Mandela.

"Nelson Mandela epitomizes strength and courage around the world. He
has come to symbolize hope, working tirelessly through his 46664
organization to raise awareness about the impact of AIDS, especially in
Africa, and promote HIV prevention measures globally," said Tom Calderone,
VH1's Executive Vice President, General Manager. "We at VH1 have a long
history of proactively engaging our viewers in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
We are proud to be a part of this momentous occasion and are eager to share
the celebration with music fans across the U.S."

Notes to Editors:

Mr. Mandela made HIV AIDS the target of his 'new fight' in 2002 and the
46664 campaign was launched with a concert in Cape Town on November 29th
2003 under the direction of Dave Stewart, Annie Lennox and Queen's Brian
May and Roger Taylor with support from artists such as Bono, The Edge and
Beyonce,

46664 takes its name from Mr. Mandela's Robben Island prison number. He
was prisoner number 466, incarcerated in 1964.

At the time of Mr. Mandela's release in 1990 South Africa recorded
120,000 people living with HIV. Today the number of South Africans living
with HIV AIDS exceeds 5.5. million.

Inspired by the vision and leadership of Nelson Mandela, 46664 is an
African response to the global HIV AIDS epidemic that invites the whole
world to take the fight in hand.

A campaign vehicle of the Nelson Mandela charitable organisations,
46664 raises funds to support the ongoing 46664 campaign and the HIV AIDS
projects it directly supports throughout sub-Saharan Africa. 46664's
project funds develop and support practical programmes for the prevention,
testing, and care and support for those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS

46664 recently unveiled its new campaign "It's in our hands," which
will build on its past achievements and expand its outreach activities in
South Africa to communities and schools to engage the youth who are at most
at risk. The not-for-profit organisation harnesses the universal connecting
power of music, sport and entertainment to deliver its messages primarily
to the younger generations. The campaign is supported by over 80
international ambassadors from the world of sport and entertainment.

Big Brown Shows Clay Who's Hung Like a Horse

When it comes to getting chicks pregnant, size really does matter.

Superhorse Big Brown will reportedly make as much as $50 million in stud fees if he wins the Triple Crown. That's as much as $100K per mare.

Not sure how much Jaymes Foster had to pony up for Clayken's swimmers, but we're guessing he didn't command quite as much -- especially for being such a long shot.

$52,100 for Sex and the City date

A Japanese 'Sex and the City' fan is set to pay $52,100 (€33,100) to attend the premiere of the new movie of the hit sitcom with Kristin Davis, one of the stars of the show.
The woman, who outbid dozens of other fans to the prize in an eBay auction, will also receive a professional hair and make-up styling and a pair of Jimmy Choos for the big bash on 27 May.
Davis, who played straight-laced brunette Charlotte in the series and reprises the role in the film, has revealed that she participated in the auction on behalf of the charity Oxfam America, a branch of Oxfam Worldwide.
She told US Weekly: "Oxfam's mission is to alleviate poverty and injustice by helping people learn skills and create lives.
"I just got back from Africa and saw first-hand that we're making a long-term difference. It gave me a sense of satisfaction."

Alanis opens up about heartache

Alanis Morissette is eager to avoid another love breakup because splits hit her too hard, femalefirst.co.uk reports.

The singer-songwriter admits she was devastated when her engagement to actor Ryan Reynolds ended last year, and it took her months to recover.

She reportedly fears she wouldnt be able to handle another breakup of that magnitude.

I was a full-blown love addict, so it was like, I cant keep doing this, my body cant take it,

Morissette told the Los Angeles Times newspaper. Breakups are a horrible thing for almost everybody I know. For someone who is a love addict, its debilitating.

But Morissette is confident her split from Reynolds was her personal rock bottom.

Ive been on a constant journey toward finally surrendering and hitting the rock bottom that Ive been avoiding my whole life, she added. So this was a huge, critical juncture for me. Everything broke, and it was an amazing and horrifying time.

One of the to the highest degree significant arrangers in jazz history, Gil Evans' three album-length collaborations with Miles Davis (Miles Ahead, Porgy and Bess and Sketches of Spain) ar all considered classics. Evans had a extended and varied life history that sometimes ran analogue to the trumpeter. Like Davis, Gil became involved in utilizing electronics in the 1970s and preferable non to face plunk for and recreate the past. He lED his own band in California (1933-38) which eventually became the backup mathematical group for Skinnay Ennis; Evans stayed on for a time as arranger. He gained recognition for his pretty futurist charts for Claude Thornhill's Orchestra (1941-42 and 1946-48) which took vantage of the ensemble's cool tones, utilised French horns and a tuba as frontline instruments and by 1946 merged the influence of federal Bureau of Prisons. He met Miles Davis (wHO admired his act upon with Thornhill) during this time and contributed arrangements of "Moonlight Dreams" and "Boplicity" to Davis' "Birth of the Cool" nonet.

After a time period in obscureness, Evans wrote for a Helen Merrill session and and so collaborated with Davis on Miles Ahead. In addition to his work with Miles (which too included a 1961 recorded Carnegie Hall concert and the half-album Subdued Nights), Evans recorded several superb and highly original sets as a leader (including Gil Evans and Ten, Young Bottle Old Wine and Peachy Jazz Standards) during the epoch. In the 1960s among the albums he worked on for other artists were famed efforts with Kenny Burrell and Astrud Gilberto. After his possess sessions for Verve during 1963-64, Evans waited until 1969 until recording once more as a loss leader. That year's Blue devils in Orbit was his first successful travail at combining acoustic and electric instruments; it would be followed by dates for Artists House, Atlantic (Svengali) and a far-famed tribute to Jimi Hendrix in 1974. After 1975's In that location Comes a Time (which features among its sidemen David Sanborn), to the highest degree of Evans' recordings were taken from live performances. Starting in 1970 he began playing with his large supporting players on a weekly footing in New York clubs. Filled with such all-star players as George Adams, Lew Soloff, Marvin "Hannibal" Peterson, Chris Hunter, Howard Johnson, Pete Levin, Hiram Bullock, Hamiet Bluiett and Arthur Blythe among others, Evans' later on bands were top-heavy in talent only tended to stray on excessively long. Gil Evans, other than sketching out a framework and contributory his keyboard, seemed to permit the orchestra largely campaign itself, inspiring rather than close guiding the music. There were some worthwhile recordings from the 1980s (when the stripe had a long cosmic string of Monday night gigs at Sweet Basil in New York) merely in general they do non ofttimes live up to their potential difference. Prior to his end, Gil Evans recorded with his "arranger's piano" on duets with Lee Konitz and Steve Lacy and his body of
